Do you remember what first inspired you to get involved with FIGMENT DC? The excitement over sharing your art, your music, your vision, with a broader community? For us, FIGMENT is a day to change the rules for a few hours – to really come together as a community, break down boundaries, dive into our imaginations and see what can emerge. Thank you to those of you who give a great deal of your time, energy, creativity and more to bring this event to life. We thank you! We are so happy to share the magic of FIGMENT with you!
Today we're asking for financial donations, as we'll need to raise $9,200 by April 30th to bring FIGMENT back to Anacostia Park this September.
And this means we need your help.
Why support FIGMENT? We've been working hard to build new partnerships and engage new volunteers, and we're excited to witness the magic once again at Anacostia Park on September 27th and 28th. But as you know, FIGMENT is a completely grassroots effort, organized and run entirely by volunteers. It is completely free to the public. We don’t charge artists an entrance fee to bring their art to FIGMENT. We don’t sell tickets to the event. Moreover, FIGMENT is 100% non-commercial. We accept no corporate sponsorship and nothing is for sale, including the art. It's what makes FIGMENT special.
Our budget covers essential expenses associated with the event. You know, the fun things like National Park Service staff, security, permits, portajohn rentals, and all the various nuts and bolts that go into throwing a large scale public event. We’re sure that we could get all that stuff covered easily if we wanted to have giant beer advertisement banners up all over the park, but we’d rather see your art all around instead!
